Company Profile

SI Diamond Technology is a holding company consisting of three wholly owned operating subsidiaries. Applied Nanotech Inc., is a premier research and development organization dedicated to developing applications for nanotechnology. Electronic Billboard Technology, Inc. (EBT) is geared toward the commercialization and marketing of electronic digitized sign technology. Sign Builders of America, Inc. (SBOA), is a manufacturer of high quality signage.

Applied Nanotech Inc. is dedicated to generating innovative products and applications using carbon nanotubes, metalized nanoparticles, silicon nanocrystals, and nanowires. We currently hold an extensive proprietary patent portfolio, with over 68 patents issued and 86 pending. Our range of products support applications including field emission displays, artificial dielectric materials, high intensity light sources, densely packed nanowires, decontamination of biological agents, single end multiplex electron sources, and portable industrial and medical X-Ray tubes.

In April 2002, Applied Nanotech (formerly FEPET) announced the demonstration of a 14" diagonal carbon nanotube display. This display was made with low-cost fabrication techniques on inexpensive glass substrates. No photolithographic steps were required, greatly simplifying the manufacturing process. While the display that ANI demonstrated was monochrome, color is achievable by using different phosphors.À

Applied Nanotech is nearing completion of its research project with a large Japanese display manufacturer. It has also solved the majority of the problems associated with manufacturing Field Emission Displays using carbon nanotube technology.

Applied Nanotech has developed simplified manufacturing processes using methods that display manufacturers are familiar with, and lowered the cost by making these processes compatible with the use of lower cost glass. It is now are in a position to license this technology to display manufacturers and to transfer the manufacturing process and know how. Applied Nanotech is providing applications for nanotechnology, which Forbes described on March 14, 2002 as a technology that "will be bigger than the Internet and more far-reaching."

Forbes writer Josh Wolfe explains, "Nanotechnology gets its name from the measurement called a nanometer, which is one-billionth of a meter--1/75,000th the size of a human hair. A nanometer comprises around four individual atoms. Here's why that matters so greatly: When we get down to this small size, the classical laws of physics change. Once they can manipulate atoms--which combine to form molecules, the building blocks of our natural world--scientists can create new building blocks that produce new materials with the exact properties they desire: smaller, stronger, tougher, lighter and more resilient than what has come before."

"Nanotechnology will lead to incredible advances, some merely practical, others almost sublime. On the most mundane level: scratch-proof glass and tiles that shed dirt and never need cleaning. On a more sophisticated level: precision drug-delivery systems; computers the size of a sugar cube that could hold the entire Library of Congress; and building blocks to produce new materials with the exact properties desired."

The Electronic Billboard Technology division (EBT) is geared toward the commercialization of electronic, digitized sign technology. EBT provides innovative, digital solutions that are redefining the retail environment. EBT offers POP advertising, branding, content creation and networking. One of our most popular products is " E-window technology" - which offers businesses the capacity for bright, full-color, full-motion video and sound displays. This dynamic application has the unrivaled and proven ability to capture attention, pull traffic into the store, and generate sales like no printed material ever could. And because the technology is fully customizable, modifying messaging and promotions by day-part or target audience is fast and easy.

EBT made several recent announcements, including hiring, Jake Schroepfer, a veteran of the advertising industry. Jake resigned as President and CEO of DDB Dallas, to become President and CEO of "I?m very excited about this opportunity to be on the leading edge of technology enabled point-of-sale advertising. The market is untapped and offers a huge opportunity for EBT," said Schroepfer.

Schroepfer has been a leader in the marketing communications business for the past 20 years. For the past 6 years he has been President and CEO of the Dallas office of DDB Worldwide. In 2001, ADWEEK reported DDB Dallas capitalized billings to be $210 million. Prior to DDB, Schroepfer founded Tracy-Locke Promotional Marketing in Dallas. During the 1990's, he led both agencies to "Agency of the Year" status in their respective disciplines (advertising and sales promotion). He is the only person to ever accomplish such a feat. Schroepfer started his marketing communication career at BBDO Worldwide in 1981.. "I'm very excited about this opportunity to be on the leading edge of technology enabled point-of-sale advertising. The market is untapped and offers a huge opportunity for EBT," said Schroepfer.

EBT also announced it will move forward with its marketwide rollout program with McDonald's of Hawaii. The program's expansion will include selling advertising space on the E-Window(tm) and E-Banner(tm) products. The technology will be installed in nearly 80 McDonald's locations throughout Hawaii. The advertising sales efforts will be led by Minneapolis agency Gabriel deGrood Bendt, who will provide creative services for advertisers along with helping them leverage the technology and the expanded audience reach that McDonald's provides.

"McDonald's has experienced increased sales lift results using our E-Window(tm) and E-Banner(tm) products during a test period we just concluded," says Marc Eller, Chairman and CEO of SI Diamond Technology. "They've taken advantage of the benefits of this digital point-of-sale technology, which features video and sound. Many other retailers and advertisers are also showing interest in this unique tool because of its ability to reach active consumers in a captive environment."
