Company Profile

CytoGenix, Inc. (CYGX) is a genomics and biopharmaceutical company pursuing research and development, and commercialization of its patented single-strand DNA (ssDNA) sequence expression technology. This technology focuses on pharmacogenomics-based treatments for heart, cancer, dermatological, and viral diseases to ultimately improve the health and wellbeing of humans and companion and food animals.

Basic research is being conducted in the CytoGenix laboratory in Houston with additional studies underway through sponsored research agreements with various universities and medical research facilities throughout the U.S.

The core of the CytoGenix patent portfolio describes expression systems that can be introduced into targeted cells where they can produce single stranded DNA molecules of the sequence specified. Disease processes result from the production of proteins from human DNA that is either mutated or altered by pathogens. This process is term "translation of messenger RNA (mRNA). Much of genomic medicine focuses on preventing the production of these harmful proteins or interfering with their function. CytoGenix's technology is simple and elegant - inhibit protein production by blocking the "translation" of the mRNA. Through "antisense therapy," as it is called, CytoGenix's technology allows cells to mass-produce DNA which binds to mRNA, thereby preventing the molecular mechanism that produces proteins. This technology could conceivably target a virally infected or a cancel cell with exquisite precision.

Until now, other companies have been trying to penetrate cells with single strands of DNA by flooding the system and hoping the oligos cross the cell membrane and get into specific cells - a crude, random process. Even if these synthetic oligos penetrate into the cell, insufficient levels of oligos accumulate inside the cell to be of any significant therapeutic value. Without rising toxicity and other harmful side effects, and to target specific cells with enough oligos to provide therapeutic value, the oligos must be produced inside the cell in sufficient quantities.

CytoGenix's technology will serve to enable the hundreds of other genomics companies who are developing thousands of gene sequences to complete and get approval for their therapeutic products. The Company is marketing laboratory tool kits as well as developing topical therapies that utilize this technology. It is also aggressively pursuing licensing opportunities with prominent biopharmaceutical and genomic companies.

In addition to its ssDNA expression technology, CytoGenix is the sole pioneer in developing novel business structures to effectively combine leading edge biotechnology with traditional pharmacology through PharmaGenix, LLC, a joint enterprise with PCCA, the Professional Compounding Centers of America, and their nearly 3,000 member compounding pharmacists.
